in lopsided L/P victory

BLOOMING PRAIRIE -- Nick Ehret had a strong game to lead the Lyle/Austin Pacelli boys to a 57-27 win over Blooming Prairie on Monday night.

Ehret scored 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the non-conference win for Lyle/Pacelli. Included in his point total was a 6-for-7 effort from the free throw line.

"Nick was aggressive inside and got a lot of second shot opportunities," L/P coach Reid Olson said. "He played like he's capable of and gave us a big lift offensively."

The L/P Athletics needed the point production from Ehret, because nobody else reached double figures. Kellen Blaser was assessed a technical foul in the first half and scored only four points on the night.

It was a 30-18 lead for the visitors at halftime, but a balanced scoring attack allowed them to pull away in the second half. The backcourt tandem of Jake Burzinski and Josh Baumann combined for 15 points.

The inside game was also productive for L/P with center Jared Jacobs scoring nine points. John Mudra added six points in the paint.

"We did a good job defensively and held them to only nine points in the second half," Olson said

The Athletics made 18 of 42 shots from the floor and 21 of 31 free throws. Blooming Prairie (2-14) made just 11 of 46 shots and was 6-for-8 at the line.

Scott Verley paced the Blossoms with 14 points.

L/P (8-7) returns to Southeast Conference action tonight with a home game in Lyle versus Grand Meadow.
