MANKATO -- Austin girls hockey won its fourth straight game Tuesday night with a 6-0 shutout of Mankato East.
Kristin Faber scored four goals to lead the Austin Packers to the Big Nine Conference win. Faber scored a pair of goals in each of the first two periods as the Packers dictated the tempo of this conference contest.
Catherine Wagner and Jenna Knudtson had the other goals for the Packers. Faber also had an assist on Knudtson's goal in the third period.
Austin jumped out to an early lead on a goal by Faber in the opening two minutes and rolled to the win. It was 2-0 after the first period and the Packers then poured it on with three goals in the second period.
"It was parent's night for East and you never know how those kind of games are going to go, because the other team is usually fired up," Austin coach Denny Bray said. "Our girls were a little flat at the start, but then they came around."

Despite playing without their assist leader Taylor Jenkins, who was out of the lineup due to injury, the Packers offense didn't miss a beat. Austin had nine more shots than East.
Amy Snyder had another strong performance in goal for the Packers with a shutout on 14 saves.
"Everybody played a lot and the girls skated hard," Bray said. "We killed four penalties in the third period and we also converted a power play. Amy is looking good in the net and our defense is starting to come around. It was a nice road win."
Austin (14-7, 9-5 Big Nine) plays at Rochester on Thursday against John Marshall/Century at Graham Arena.
