The former manager of the Foot Locker store at Austin's Oak Park Mall allegedly stole more than $3,500 in cash deposits from the business in December.
Paul Michael Nelson, 900 14th St. N.W., Apt. 107, is charged in Mower District Court with a felony count of theft.
At his court appearance Wednesday, the 28-year-old Nelson was released from custody with conditions.
According to a criminal complaint, a Foot Locker district manager reported Monday to Austin police that Nelson had stolen $3,546.18 in cash deposits two months ago. The district manager found discrepancies in the store's deposits and confronted Nelson.

Nelson allegedly told the manager he took the cash in December and spent the next two months trying to hide the theft by using "floating deposits," the complaint says.
Nelson, who resigned from his position after being confronted, told police he wants to pay back the store.
