Austin Public Library was remembered in a local resident's will, which means $45,000 to $50,000 is coming next summer.
The donation is among the largest the library has gotten in recent years, according to city and library staff.
City Finance Director Tom Dankert delivered the news to the library board at Tuesday's monthly meeting.

The unnamed donor left 3 percent of her estate to the library. Dankert said the news came about two months ago, but he could not make it public until legal details were worked out and it became official.
Officials said they will not name the donor until the money is distributed next year.
The donation is estimated between $45,000 and $50,000. The money will not be available until June or July, Dankert said.
Library Director Ann Hokanson said she is thrilled.
"It's gifts like that which help the library provide services and programs that go above and beyond what we can with what the city and county provide," she said.
