ROSEVILLE, Minn. -- The Minnesota State Lottery today launched Hot Lotto, a new game played just like Powerball but with a better chance of winning and smaller jackpots.
Hot Lotto replaces Rolldown, an 18-month-old game that had its final drawing on Saturday, and drawings will take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the same night as Powerball drawings.
In Hot Lotto, players draw five numbers from a pool of 39 and one "Hot Ball" number from a pool of 19. Powerball players draw the five numbers from a pool of 49 and the "Powerball" from a pool of 42.
The odds of winning something, from $2 to the jackpot, are 1 in 16 for Hot Lotto and 1 in 74 for Powerball, where the smallest prize is $3.
