Seibel first in long jump, second in triple jump
FARIMONT -- Senior Megan Seibel had a first- and second-place finish as Austin opened its girls outdoor track season Tuesday.
The Packers were third in the four-team Fairmont Quadrangular with 38.5 points. Host Fairmont won with 130.5 points.
Seibel took first place in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet. She placed second in the triple jump, just a half inch out of first, with a leap of 32 feet, 9 inches.
Renee Ludwig also had an individual runner-up finish for the Packers. She was second in the discus with a toss of 103-10.

The Packers were second in both the 400- and 1,600-meter relays. Kari Loger, Jenny Tucker, Staci Tucker and Theresa Hirsch teamed up to post a time of 4:19.93 in the 1,600 relay.
Austin coach Lisa Glynn called the 1,600 relay effort a "super time for this part of the season."
Austin's 400 runner-up relay team of Seibel, Loger, Staci Tucker and Hirsch had a time of 53.4
Other top finishes for the Packers were Natalie Bowers with a third in the 3,200 (13.26.62), Katie Munk with a fourth in the 1,600 (5:56.), Hirsch with a fourth in the shot put (32-53⁄4); and Lisa Bue with a fourth in the high jump (4-8) and 800 (2:36.89).
The Packers will compete at the Owatonna Co-ed Relays on Friday at 3:15 p.m.
