AUSTIN EDITION Packers roll in final dual meet

WASECA -- Austin had a tuneup for this weekend's Big Nine Conference meet by rolling past Waseca 94-84 in girls swimming and diving on Monday.

The Packers, rated third in the state, used a makeshift lineup for Monday's meet. The Packers used a lot of their younger swimmers and many of their veterans swam in different events than usual.

Austin still held a big 94-46 lead with three events to go before swimming the final three as exhibitions.

The Packers won nine of the 12 events in their final dual meet of the season. Austin had six different individual winners and won all three relays.

Meghan Walsh, Stacy Bjorlie, Lindsay Lukes, Lauren Goettsch and Amanda Martin were all in on two winning relays. Bjorlie, Lukes, Goettsch and Martin captured the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Goettsch teamed with Walsh, Elizabeth Goskesen and Cassie Srock to open the meet by winning the 200 medley relay. Bjorlie, Walsh, Martin and Lukes won the 400 freestyle relay.

Bjorlie led a 1-2-3 Austin sweep in the 50 freestyle followed by Lukes and Chrissy Srock. Nicole Novak won the 200 freestyle for the Packers.

Walsh won the 100 butterfly, Lukes captures the 100 backstroke and Cassie Srock won the 100 breaststroke.

Danielle Chapek easily won the diving competition for the Packers.

Austin closes the regular season with a 12-2 record in dual meets. The Packers will compete in the Big Nine Conference meet on Saturday at noon at the Olmsted County Recreation Center pool.
