AUSTIN EDITION Public-housing deposits increase

From staff reports

Public-housing residents will soon pay more in security deposits.

The Housing and Redevelopment Authority approved an increase to $300 for both high-rises and houses on Wednesday. Previously, deposits ranged from $150 to $200. The deposit can be paid in full or in payments over three months.

More damage has been reported after tenants moved out recently, HRA accountant Sherri Detloff said. Some tenants skip the last month rent or leave garbage behind, Detloff said.
