AUSTIN EDITION Riverland 3rd at state

BRAINERD -- Riverland men's golf is tied for third after Monday's first round of the Minnesota Community College Conference state golf tournament at The Legacy golf course

The Region 13 Tournament is being held in conjunction with the MCCC State Tourney. Riverland is tied for fifth in the regional competition out of 12 teams.

The top team in the region, plus the top 10 individuals qualify for the national tournament next June in New York.

Dan Breuer and Pat King have the best chances from Riverland to qualify for the nationals. King shot a round of 80 and is tied for 10th place. Breuer shot an 83 and is tied for 17th place.

Kyle Fett shot an 85 and David Judd a 93 to round out the Blue Devils scores.

National power Madison Area Technical College led the regional competition with a 308 on the par-72 course. Host Central Lakes was in second at 313, Bismarck State fourth at 315, and Riverland and Minnesota West were tied for fifth at 341.

In the women's meet, Alison of Stutzman of Riverland is tied for second in the state. Stutzman fired a 41-48 for a round of 99. Angie Johnson of Central Lakes is in first place after shooting a round of 77.
