AUSTIN EDITION Riverland continues winning ways

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Riverland women's softball team improved to 4-1 on their spring trip with a 6-0 victory over Franklin Community College on Wednesday.

Susie Rayman and Beth Harsma combined on a four-hitter for the shutout. Rayman got the win in her first start of the season.

"Susie pitched well for her first outing," Riverland coach Lisa Quednow-Bickler said.

Offensively, Riverland banged out 13 hits and built a 4-0 lead after three innings. Melanie Gabrielson, a sophomore from Austin, went 3-for-4.

Abbey Bergstrom, Sarah Moore and Harsma were all 2-for-4 at the plate for Riverland. Bergstrom and Moore each drove in a pair of runs.

The Blue Devils continue their spring trip with another game today in Florida.
