AUSTIN EDITION - Riverland loses third straight conf. match

ROCHESTER -- The Riverland volleyball team remains winless in the Minnesota Community College Conference, South Division after losing its third straight league match on Friday night.

Rochester Community and Technical College swept Riverland in three games by scores of 30-24, 30-24, and 30-21. Riverland took an early 11-7 lead in the opening game of the match, but couldn't hold it.

"It was close all the way and tied 19-19 in the first game, then they pulled away," Riverland coach Helen Jahr said. "They scored four points in a row, then we came back, but couldn't catch them."

The second game was much the same scenario with the Lady Devils staying close to the RCTC Yellowjackets for a time. The game was tied at 14-14, but then the RCTC women began to pull away for a 2-0 lead in the match.

"We lost intensity and the flow pulled away from us," Jahr said. "We had too many errors and lost focus at key times."
