RUSHFORD -- The Southland Rebels played hard Friday night, but came up short in a 25-10 loss to Rushford-Peterson.
This game in the Three Rivers Conference, South Division, was a tight contest much of the way. The R-P Trojans led 6-3 at halftime and 12-3 at the end of three quarters.
The Rebels were still in position to pull this game out, but a big play by the Trojans was crucial in the fourth quarter. Dan Boyum of R-P blocked a punt near the goal line and teammate Brent Morcomb caught it in the air in the end zone for a touchdown.
Later, Tyler Drinkall connected with Alex Mierau on a 51-yard touchdown pass to expand the R-P lead to 25-3.
Boyum scored the Trojans first touchdown on a 1-yard plunge in the first quarter. Drinkall raced 54 yards on an option play in the third quarter for another touchdown.

The Rebels defense battled the whole way and forced a number of turnovers, but it wasn't enough to pull off the upset.
In the R-P statistical tally, Drinkall was 4-of-12 for 89 yards passing and rushed 10 times for 76 yards. For the Rebels in the loss, Kulow passed for 147 yards but was intercepted twice.
