ADAMS -- Reaching a new low score on the season wasn't quite enough for the Southland/Grand Meadow girls golf team in a one-stroke loss to Rushford-Peterson.
Playing the front nine holes at the Cedar River Country Club on Friday afternoon, the S/GM girls lost 229-230 to R-P in this Southeast Conference match.
Brittany Bunke of Rushford-Peterson was the meet medalist with a round of 53. Charlotte Retterath led the way for Southland/Grand Meadow with a 55.
"It was finally a nice day for golf and the girls shot their lowest round of the season," S/GM coach Wayne Robertson said. "The girls have been improving and they played well. Still, it's kind of tough to lose by one stroke. It was a close match from start-to-finish."
S/GM girls golf (3-4, 2-3 SEC) hosts a non-conference match on Tuesday versus Kingsland at the Cedar River Country Club.
