ADAMS -- The Southland/Grand Meadow boys and girls golf teams both won matches over Hayfield on Thursday at the Cedar River Country Club.
Jeff Thalberg led the S/GM boys to an eight-stroke win with a meet medalist round of 39. Hayfield had three players lead the way with rounds of 44.
Charlotte Retterath paced the S/GM girls with a 52 for meet medalist honors. Despite the windy conditions, the S/GM girls won the team competition by 27 strokes.

Wind doesn't deter Lourdes
The Rochester Lourdes boys golf team battled 25-30 mph winds Thursday to shoot a team score of 328 and win a triangular meet over Rochester John Marshall and Winona.

Lourdes senior Eric Deutsch of Lourdes shot 78 (41 and 37) to earn meet medalist honors. Teammate Mike Pehler, a freshman, shot 39-40 to finish a stroke back. Freshman Andrew Alexander got the third-best score at 84. Eagles eighth-grader Brian Larson scored the fifth-best score on the team at 46-44 for a 90.
JM senior Brian Moehnke shot 40-48 for an 88.

The Rochester Century boys golf team finished third Thursday in the Red Wing Invitational, shooting a 307 for 18 holes.
Red Wing won the meet with 305 in a tie-breaker over Owatonna.
Andy Link and Lee Schloesser shot 74s for Century.
