AUSTIN EDITION Woman reports assault at Austin apartment

Police arrested three men Sunday after a woman reported she was sexually assaulted by them at a northeast Austin apartment.

The 42-year-old woman said the men had invited her to drink at an apartment on Fourth Avenue Northeast, Police Chief Paul Philipp said. She was dancing with them when they started touching her breasts and buttocks, he said.

The woman, who made the report about 4:45 a.m. Sunday, told police the men wouldn't let her leave, Philipp said. They allegedly took her clothes off and had sex with her, he said.

She told police the men ran from the apartment. She went to the Law Enforcement Center to make the report, Philipp said.

Police went to the apartment and arrested three men, ages 22, 24 and 34, Philipp said. All three are undocumented immigrants and are being held in Mower County Jail, he said.

There are inconsistencies in the stories told by the suspects and the woman, including her initial statement that five to six men sexually assaulted her, Philipp said. However, there's enough evidence to hold the men on criminal sexual misconduct charges, he said.
