AUSTIN EDITION Woman with 19 animals must reduce the number

From staff reports

An Austin woman was given 14 days to find home for all but three of the animals in her home.

A 52-year-old woman living at 1106 Third Ave. S.W. said she had 19 animals, mostly strays, and was seeking homes for them.

She told a police officer she had six cats living in the garage, six adult dogs in the house, five kittens in the house and two running loose. The woman said most of the cats will go to her brother's property.

The woman was given 14 days to find homes for the animals or she would be cited for having too many animals.

A city ordinance limits the number of adult cats, dogs or potbellied pigs in one home to three.
