FRESNO, Calif. -- Mike Wuertz of Austin used his bat as well as his arm to help the Iowa Cubs defeat the Fresno Grizzlies 6-2 in a Pacific Coast League contest Tuesday night.
The Iowa Cubs used a four-run eighth inning to defeat Fresno. Wuertz got the victory, allowing one earned run in three innings. Wuertz also had a run-scoring single in the sixth inning to tie the game 2-2.
With the game tied 2-2 headed into the eighth, the Cubs loaded the bases with no outs -- then broke it open on David Kelton's sacrifice fly and doubles from Nate Frese and Augie Ojeda.
Frese also drove in the first run of the game on a fielder's choice in the second inning.
