An Austin man told police a dog bit him in the face Wednesday night while the man was looking over a residence’s fence near Galloway Park.
Daniel Robert Leidal, 26, was bleeding on his face about 7:25 p.m. by the Apollo Superette convenience store at Oakland Avenue West and Eighth Street, Police Chief Paul Philipp said. A citizen saw Leidal and offered to give him a ride to the hospital.
When they stopped at Kwik Trip near Interstate 90 and Fourth Street Northwest, an ambulance came for Leidal, the chief said.
Leidal told police he was out for a walk in the area of the park in southwest Austin when he stopped and tried to "socialize" with a dog, Philipp said. The brown dog was large with a stubby nose.
Officers weren’t able to locate the animal.
