Mower County and city of Austin employees are collecting nonperishable food items during their annual competition leading up to Thanksgiving. Their food drive this year will conclude with a weigh off Nov. 20 at the Mower County Recycling Center’s warehouse in northeast Austin.
Following is a list of items that can be purchased for the drive: canned vegetables, canned fruit, peanut butter, cereal, ketchup, non-fat dry milk, pasta, mayonnaise, baby food, baking goods, canned meats, tuna, crackers, coffee, bottled water and single-serve micro cups.
