FARIBAULT — The Austin VFW 16-under baseball team roared after the second inning, and it helped them pounce on Faribault 21-8 on Wednesday.
Austin trailed 5-2 after the first inning, then trimmed that deficit to 5-4 after two frames. Then it took off, scoring five runs in the third before finally leading 12-5 after four.
Mark Harber had a huge day, going 3-for-5 with a double and five RBIs. Adam Hemann went 3-for-5 with three runs, Drew Orcutt went 2-for-4 with four runs, Sam Stier went 2-for-4 with three runs, and Dylan Monson went 2-for-5 with three runs.
Harber pitched five innings, striking out three and allowing four earned runs.
Austin is 3-2 and plays its home opener on Friday night, taking on Mantorville at 6 p.m.
