GRAND MEADOW — A black bear was found early today in a barn in the Grand Meadow area.
The animal was on a farm along Mower County Road 14 near 220th Street, according to Grand Meadow police Chief Jim Richardson.
Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said finding a bear happens infrequently. "This is part of their typical migration this time of year, but we don’t normally see them this far south," she said.
The DNR was contacted. Grand Meadow is south of Rochester, on Minnesota Highway 16.
