Bella Christmas concerts this weekend

"A Bella Christmas: O Night Divine,"featuring two of the Bella Voce youth choirs and guest instrumentalists, will be presented Saturday and Sunday at the Church of St. John the Evangelistin Rochester.

The Bella Voce Young Women's Choir,consisting of 64 singers in grades 9 through 12, will sing, as will the Bella Fiore choir,32 singers in grades 6-8. Joining them will be Ashley Hallon trumpet and Sarah Jungon violin.

Bella Voce was selected to appear on Minnesota Public Radio's "Taste of the Holidays" CD, the only high school-age choir on the disc. The choir, founded and directed by Shelly Winemiller,is in its eighth season of providing young women with the opportunity to perform. The choir has performed in Europe.

For these concerts, the choirs will sing a variety of secular and sacred songs of the Christmas season. Hall will perform on "The Angel Choir" and "The Trumpeter," while Jung will play "Night of Silence" and "Ave Maria."

The closing piece of the concert will be "Silent Night."
