Bergeron’s surgery a success

Associated Press

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Wild say defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron’s back surgery was a success.

Bergeron had the surgery Tuesday to address what the team called a "disc issue." He is scheduled to begin a rehabilitation program on Wednesday that will take approximately six to eight weeks.

The Wild acquired Bergeron in a trade with Anaheim before the season. He had 14 goals and 18 assists in 72 games in his first season in Minnesota.

The Wild expect him to be ready in time for training camp.
