Bernadine Elizabeth Barry -- Bellechester

BELLECHESTER -- The funeral for Bernadine Elizabeth Barry will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Church of St. Joseph, with the Revs. Thomas Kommers and Bruce Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the St. Columbkill Catholic Cemetery in Belle Creek.

Mrs. Barry, 92, of Red Wing, a native of Bellechester, died Saturday (Aug. 30, 2003) at Fairview Seminary Home in Red Wing.

Bernadine Mahoney was born Oct. 14, 1910, in Bellechester. She attended schools in Bellechester and then did housekeeping for families for a number of years. On Oct. 25, 1939, she married Robert Barry. They lived and farmed in the Belle Creek area. They moved to Red Wing on May 15, 1976. He died July 26, 1976. She was a member of Church of St. Joseph, the Catholic Daughters and the Goodhue County extension project group. She also taught religion education at Belle Creek. She enjoyed cooking and being with her family.

Survivors include a son, Robert (Rose) of Rochester; a daughter, Mary (Gary) Omundson of Maple Grove, Minn.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gertrude Majerus of Red Wing. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday with an 8 p.m. prayer service at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing and at the church Wednesday one hour before the service.
