CHATFIELD -- The funeral for Bernice "Bea" Rose will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, with the Rev. Curtis H. Johnson officiating. Spring burial will be in Orion Center Cemetery in Cummingsville.
Mrs. Rose, 89, formerly of Chatfield, died Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2002) at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield where she had resided 11⁄2; years.
Bernice Owen was born Aug. 4, 1912, in rural Stewartville, and later lived in New England, N.D., and the Rochester area. On March 27, 1931, she married Robert Rose in Rochester and they lived in Chatfield. Mrs. Rose was a custodian at Chosen Valley High School in Chatfield for 20 years and her husband was a painter. He preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1991. She was a member of Pioneer Presbyterian Church and enjoyed gardening, canning and sewing.
Survivors include a son, Robert (Mary Lee) of Kasson; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A daughter and two sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and until time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
