LAKE CITY -- The funeral for Betty Jane Hostettler will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City, with the Rev. Scott Carmichael officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hostettler, 83, of Lake City, died Tuesday (Oct. 12, 2004) at Lake City Nursing Home.
Betty Jane VonHelmst was born Oct. 24, 1920, in St. Paul and graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1938. After graduating from Rasmussen School of Business in St. Paul, she was employed at the International Institute and the Industrial Commission of the state of Minnesota. On Sept. 7, 1946, she married Harold Hostettler at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City, and they lived in Lake City. Mrs. Hostettler worked at the Lake City Public Library and also for Drs. Bowers and Gjerde at their clinic in Lake City. Her husband died June 28, 2001. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, was active in ladies aid and enjoyed gardening and flowers.
Survivors include a son, Robert of Skokie, Ill.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A son and a brother preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City and an hour before the service Sunday at the church.
