Riverland Community College will host "Big Night on Campus" from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in the West Building on the Austin Campus.
The event allows participants to take tours, learn about programs, try activities, enjoy entertainment and win prizes.
In addition, Riverland and Hy-Vee in Austin will partner to bake a giant cake for the event. The cake, deemed the second biggest cake in Minnesota, will be 8 feet long by 10 feet wide, weigh more than 270 pounds and serve more than 3,000 people.
Proceeds from cake sponsorships and sales will raise money to create an endowed scholarship fund for Riverland students. All donations will be doubled, as every dollar raised, up to $10,000, will be matched by an anonymous donor.

Opportunities to sponsor pieces or sections of the cake are available to businesses and individuals. Sponsors’ logos and names will be displayed in the frosting. People also may make donations that day and have their photos taken with the cake from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Pieces and sections will be sold throughout the evening.
