DENNISON, Minn. -- The post office in Dennison, a small city just southeast of Northfield, could soon have a new name.
The U.S. House has passed a bill to rename the Dennison post office after former Minnesota governor and congressman Al Quie.
Quie was born on a farm in Dennison. The Republican represented Minnesota's 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House from 1958 to 1978, and served as governor from 1979 to 1983.
Rep. John Kline, R-Minn., introduced the bill to rename the post office after Quie. Minnesota's seven other House members co-sponsored the bill.
The bill now goes to the Senate.
