AUSTIN -- The Rochester Blues collected 19 hits in a 7-6 victory over the Austin-Hayfield Athletics in Twin Rivers League amateur baseball Friday.
With the victory, the Blues (13-4) pulled within a game of the Athletics (10-3) in league play. The Blues are 14-6 overall while Austin-Hayfield is 14-14.
Adam Sikkink pitched six-hit ball over seven innings for the victory. The right-hander moved to 6-2 on the year. He allowed six runs, all earned, while striking out seven and walking five. "He was throwing hard tonight," Blues manager Nate Matti said.
Matt Baudoin went 4-for-5 for the Blues while Mike Lawler and Jim Strain had three hits each.
Strain scored the winning run in the top of the eighth as the Blues snapped a 6-6 tie. He singled, stole second and scored on a throwing error on Josh Matti's two-out infield single.
