Body found in river in Hastings

Dakota County authorities are trying to identify a man found dead in the Vermillion River in Hastings on Friday.

Dave Bellows, chief deputy sheriff, said the body was found in the river at 11:37 a.m. Friday. It was found in Vermillion Falls Park between Highway 61 and 18th Street East in Hastings.

The man is described as being Hispanic or possibly Middle Eastern, in his late 30s or early 40s, with short black hair and a receding hairline. He was wearing red underwear.
