Even if the Rochester Community and Technical College football team wins the state championship on Saturday, the Yellowjackets could find themselves shut out of the bowl picture.
The Yellowjackets have been to nine straight bowl games, dating back to the 1997 season. RCTC enters the state title game with Vermilion with a six-game winning streak. But the team started 1-3 and is just 7-3 overall.
"No bowl talk as of yet," Yellowjackets coach Brad LaPlante said. "It may be disappointing for the guys, but we want to take care of state first."
Usually at this stage of the season the Yellowjackets have heard from some bowls if they are interested in RCTC.
"If we win state and don’t get a bowl, I’m OK with that," LaPlante said.
