Boys Basketball | JWP knocks off Spring Grove in Section 1A

Post-Bulletin, Rochester MN

Spring Grove’s bid for its first state boys basketball tournament appearance fell short Tuesday night as the Lions fell to Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 55-51 in the Section One, Class A tournament at Mayo Civic Center’s Taylor Arena.

The Lions, who finished 24-5 overall, drew within three points of JWP with 1:17 to play, but could get no closer.

Spring Grove played without starting sophomore point guard Dakota Rostad, who missed the game because of illness.

Spring Grove was led by center Kevin Lochner with 18 points and 14 rebounds. JWP got 19 points from guard Tyler Witt and 15 from Jacob Schrom.

This will be JWP’s first state appearance since 1987. It brings a 20-10 record into the event.
