Lancers stay unbeaten

LA CRESCENT — Lourdes has had its hands full with a tough schedule of late. The Eagles had their toughest matchup yet on Friday, taking on powerful La Crescent.

The Eagles battled, but didn’t have quite enough to get past the Lancers, who are off to a 5-0 start.

"We competed hard," Lourdes coach Jim Daly said. "I’m happy with our effort. But we didn’t do quite enough to get the job done. La Crescent has a lot of athleticism."

La Crescent was led by its star, 6-foot-3 guard Ian Anderson. The senior finished with 24 points. No other Lancer hit double figures.

Lourdes got 20 points from senior standout Tom Gores. Rob Poterucha added 11 and Tyler Greguson had eight.

Daly said a couple of bad stretches of play by his team did it in.

"We had one stretch where they outscored us 7-0," Daly said. "We had a couple of bad possessions. When you are going against teams as good as La Crescent, you can’t do that."

La Crescent won the game despite committing 19 turnovers.

Lourdes slipped to 4-3 overall.
