Boys Soccer | Lourdes 1, Caledonia 0

CALEDONIA — Jon Eickemeyer scored unassisted from 20 yards midway through the second half and lifted Rochester Lourdes to a 1-0 win over Caledonia in a non-conference boys soccer game Thursday.

Lourdes improved to 10-3-1 overall and notched an important win as playoff time approaches. Caledonia, a potential opponent in the Section 1A tournament, is 8-4-1.

"It’s a big win because of their record," Lourdes coach Tom Kane said. "It’s getting close to seeding time and their part of our section, and we’re trying to secure the top seed so we have to keep on winning."

Kane said Caledonia is a dangerous team.

"They’re actually a very good team; they did a nice job of making us work for it," he said. "They definitely get fired up to play us; their stands were full and they were cheering."

Lourdes’ next game is against Rochester Mayo at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Rochester Regional Sports Stadium.
