BRIEFS - GOLF TOURNAMENTS

The Parent-Child Championship is Sunday at Soldier Field.

Parents, grandparents and children ages 9-99 are eligible to compete in the 9-hole alternate-shot tournament. It is four tournaments in one: Father-Son, Mother-Son, Father-Daughter, Mother-Daughter.

All divisions are flighted by age of child (9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18, and 19-and-older. There are net and gross divisions. Net division is based on 25 percent of parent's handicap (USGA handicap required to play in net division).

Parents are allowed to play with more than one partner. Trophies are awarded for winners in every division.

The entry fee is $3 per person/per event. Green fees charged as applicable.

Tee -- from 1-6 p.m. -- are on a first come, first serve basis.

HOLES-IN-ONE

Kevin Regnier of Zionsville, Ind., aced the 175-yard 15th hole at Willow Creek Thursday using a 6-iron. He was playing with Hal Regnier, Wayne Biagsvedt and Al Wileman.

Nick Ortimier had a hole-in-one on the 106-yard fourth hole at "Little Willow'' at Willow Creek using a pitching wedge. He was playing with Sarah Schiltz.

Darend Yetter aced the 212-yard eighth hole at Soldiers Field using a 3-wood. He was playing with Map Phen and Dusty Rosemark. It was his first ace.

Frank Braithwaite aced the 169-yard sixth hole at Oak Summit using a 4-iron Saturday. He was playing with Gordy Schacht.

Shawn Mitchell aced the 187-yard third hole at Soldiers Field on Thursday, using a 5-wood.
