AUSTIN -- The funeral for Burnice Uthelia "Bunny" Erickson will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, with the Rev. Kristin K. Wee officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Austin
Mrs. Erickson, 92, of Janesville, Minn., formerly of Austin, died Saturday (March 30, 2002) at Janesville Nursing Home.
Burnice Uthelia Jensen was born March 6, 1910, in Alden, Minn., grew up in rural Alden and received a teaching degree from Mankato Teachers College. She taught kindergarten in Austin for 23 years and in Emmons and Fountain for six years. She received many teaching awards. On July 18, 1935, she married Marvin Erickson in Alden. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and playing the piano.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Cottingham of Papua, New Guinea; a son, Charles (Carol) of Longmont, Colo.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and an hour before the service Thursday at the church.
