The recent sale of The Olmsted County Lumber Mart means the former Byron operation has been absorbed by the Arrow Building Center in Kasson.

OCLM, which was based at 714 County Road 3 N.W., was purchased by Consolidated Lumber Co. of Stillwater. Consolidated owns and operates 14 Arrow Building Centers in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

OCLM's equipment and inventory was moved to the Arrow Building Center at 102 First St. S.W. in Kasson. Consolidated bought the Kasson Lumber Co. at that site in 2002

Four OCLM employees, including General Manager Kim Enerson, transferred to the Arrow Building Center in Kasson. Enerson is now the general manager of the Kasson operation.

"They (Arrow) offered to take them all, but some weren't interested in making the drive or decided to try something else," says Mike Paradise, one of the former OCLM owners and president of Bigelow Homes.

While OCLM closed on Oct. 14, other construction businesses continue to operate at its former home between Byron and Rochester. Those businesses include Home Design Studio Flooring and Cabinets, Home Improvement Professionals, Progressive Plan Design and the HIP equipment rental center.

About 13 people continue to work at those businesses at the Olmsted County Road 3 facilities, according to Paradise.

The staff of most of those firms moved there in 2012, when the 32,000-square-foot Home Design Studio in northwest Rochester closed.

In a separate deal, that empty showroom complex along West Circle Drive sold for $1.3 million on Oct. 30 to Event Studio, LLC of Rochester. It isn't known yet what plans Event Studio might have for the former Home Design Studio building.
