A 49-year-old Byron man has been charged with criminal sexual conduct involving a teenage girl.
Robert William Silker is charged with five counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct, all felonies. In addition, he faces a gross misdemeanor count of unlawfully possessing a pistol. A summons has been issued for him to be in Olmsted District Court on Aug. 31.
The complaint says he sexually abused the girl repeatedly from October 2007 through mid-June 2008. Authorities were notified on June 21, 2008. The girl says she was afraid of Silker and afraid to tell anyone what he was doing to her.
