Calvin C. Barrett -- Stewartville

STEWARTVILLE -- The funeral for Calvin C. Barrett will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Ranfranz &; Vine Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Sherman P. Coltvet of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Rochester officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.

Mr. Barrett, 43, of Stewartville, died Thursday afternoon (May 22, 2003) at Saint Marys Hospital of a gunshot wound.

He was born Oct. 24, 1959, in Rockford, Ill., and grew up there. He married Cynthia J. Loos on May 13, 1985, in Rochester. Mr. Barrett lived in Rochester from 1985 until moving to Stewartville in November 2002. He worked in the roofing industry for several years and then as an insulator. Mr. Barrett had worked for Home Improvement Professionals Co. in Byron, but was not a current employee.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Laura, April and Destinee, all of Rochester; two sons, Calvin Jr. and Nathaniel, both of Rochester; his father, James D. Barrett of Columbus, Wis.; his mother, Shirley A. Socia of Grandin, Mo.; three sisters, Charlene (Robert) Walker of Sheldon, Ill., Carla (James) Blackwell of Milford, Ill., Carrie (Gary) Sherrion of Grandin, Mo.; and two brothers, Curt Barrett and Chris Barrett, both of Grandin, Mo. He was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Friends may call an hour before the service Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests memorials to Paws &; Claws of Rochester.
