Car hits two houses, injures two boys

A car crashed into the foundation of a house on Rochester's northwest side, injuring two boys watching television in the basement, city police said,

The vehicle went through a T-intersection at 19th Avenue and 43rd Street Northwest just before 10:15 p.m. Sunday, according to police.

The boys, Yim Khuth, 15, and Seyha Yoeum, 13, both of Rochester, were treated overnight at Saint Marys Hospital and released today, a Mayo Clinic spokeswoman said.

The car, which was driven by Kao Xiong, 18, of Rochester, was southbound on 19th Avenue Northwest, which ends at 43rd Street. Xiong missed the turn, hit the corner of a house at 1818 43rd St. N. W. and then plowed into the lower level of 1812 43rd St. N.W., police said. About 10 feet of the foundation wall was damaged.


Xiong and an unnamed passenger in his car were not injured.

An estimate of the damage to the houses was available this morning.
