CardioVision tops 10,000 in membership

More than 10,000 residents have signed up to participate in CardioVision 2020, a program that aims to make Olmsted County the healthiest in the nation by 2020.

CardioVision 2020, a cooperative effort by Mayo Clinic, Olmsted County Medical Group, Olmsted County Health Department, Rochester Park and Recreation Department, and schools in the county, asks participants to adopt five personal lifestyle goals, one of which is regular physical activity.

Through Walk &; Win, more than 1,200 people have accepted that challenge, bringing the total number of CardioVision 2020 participants to about 10,400. The community goal had been to have 10,000 participants.

"This is by far the best response we've had in the three years we have run the program," said spokesman Lee Aase.

The CardioVision goal thermometer on the Galleria Building was updated this morning to show more than 10,000 participants in the program.

Also, 153 "teams" involving 2,300 individuals have signed up for the walking program, temporarily depleting CardioVision's supply of pedometers.
