CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Carolina coach John Fox said Mike Tice called him Monday to apologize for not shaking hands after the Panthers beat the Minnesota Vikings.
Tice was angry after Fox called a time-out with eight seconds left in Carolina's 21-14 victory on Sunday so that place-kicker Jon Hilbert could attempt a 39-yard field goal.
The kick failed but, had it been good, the Vikings would have needed two scores in four seconds to win the game.
"When you call a time-out with eight seconds left to try a field goal, no, I'm not shaking your hand afterwards," Tice said on his postgame radio show. "That's rubbing it in a little bit."
Fox said Tice called him Monday morning to apologize.

"I think he thought that was a mistake," Fox said. "I haven't given it a second thought since this morning and it's over and done with."
