STEWARTVILLE — A household safe stolen from a Stewartville home was discovered along a rural road in Olmsted County on Wednesday night — minus its cash.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office recovered the small safe after someone saw it in a roadside ditch, sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Behrns said. It was found near Olmsted County roads 6 and 8 Southwest.
The owners was unaware the safe had been stolen, according to the report. Eight U.S. savings bonds and $4,700 in cash were missing from the safe, Behrns said. Some personal documents were left in the safe, and that led deputies to the owner.
