Charleen Johnson -- Wabasha

WABASHA -- The funeral for Charleen Johnson was today at First Lutheran Church in Mitchell, S.D., with the Rev. David Astrup officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Falnes Cemetery in Langford, S.D.

Mrs. Johnson, 36, of Mitchell, formerly of Wabasha, died Thursday (Nov. 11, 2004) at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital.

Charleen Welke was born Dec. 24, 1967, in Wabasha and lived in Wabasha until moving to Harlowton, Mont., where she attended high school. She attended business college in Great Falls, Mont. On June 27, 1986, she married Wesley Johnson in Havre, Mont. Because of her husband's employment with the Army National Guard, they lived in a number of states before moving to Mitchell in 1996.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Raydon; a daughter, Rhiannon; her mother, Nancy (Zabel) Welke Larson Friske, and her mother's husband, Edward J. Friske, of Castlewood, S.D.; and three sisters, Jennifer Larson of Mitchell, Michelle Larson of Winner, S.D., and Monica Larson of Aberdeen. S.D. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her father and her stepfather.

Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell is in charge of arrangements.
