WYKOFF — The funeral for Charles R. "Charlie" Doering will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wykoff, with the Rev. Becky L. Timm Welch officiating. Burial will be with military honors at the Wykoff Cemetery.
Mr. Doering, 62, of Wykoff, died Wednesday (Nov. 26, 2008) at Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 22, 1946, in Spring valley, the son of Earl and Goldie (Applen) Doering. He was raised in Wykoff and was a 1964 graduate of Wykoff High School. He served with the U.S. Army in the Dominican Republic from 1964 to 1966. He worked for his dad at Doering Livestock for a number of years, at AFC in Chatfield and then at the Farmer’s Cooperative in Wykoff until his retirement in January 2008.
He married his longtime partner Patricia Jones on June 28, 2008, at their home in Wykoff. She survives.
He was a lifetime member of the Spring Valley VFW. He enjoyed the Cleveland Indians, softball, his grandchildren, Hamm’s beer and Tootsie Roll Pops.

Survivors include two stepsons, Tim (Deb) O’Connor of Mantorville and Bob (Becky) Jones of Stacyville, Iowa; five step-grandchildren, Mikayla, Chase and Keagan O’Connor and Alexis and Sierra Jones; two brothers, John (Sandy) Doering of Rochester and David (Nadine) of Redwood Falls; one sister, Mary Jane (Alfred) Meyer of Henning, Minn.; and one sister-in-law, Ardell Doering of Wykoff.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, David Jones; step-granddaughter, Kiley Jones; and two brothers, Jerry and Bill Doering.
Friends may call at Thauwald Funeral Home in Wykoff from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, and for one hour before the service at the church on Sunday.
