From staff reports

The latest round of presidential campaigning in Rochester will be at the Olmsted County Fairgrounds on Tuesday.

Vice President Dick Cheney will campaign in Rochester at a Republican National Committee Victory '04 Rally at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The doors will open at 1:45 p.m.

Free tickets are needed to attend the event. They can be acquired at the Olmsted County Republican office at 922 N. Broadway or by calling 282-2842. The office will be open until 7 p.m. tonight and from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday.

Besides Cheney, the event will include a speech by Sen. Gil Gutknecht, and Sen. Norm Coleman will introduce the vice president, according to Rochester RNC Communications Chairman Tom McGill. The event is expected to last an hour to an hour and a half.

As a "battleground state," Minnesota, and Rochester in particular, has been attracting a lot attention from the presidential campaigns.

President Bush; his twin daughters; Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry; and vice presidential candidate John Edwards' wife, Elizabeth Edwards, have made recent Rochester appearances.

The only primary campaigners that have not come to Rochester are vice presidential candidate John Edwards and first lady Laura Bush.
