Civil Air Patrol honors 3 cadets

Three cadets in the Southeast Minnesota squadron of Civil Air Patrol have received the organization’s Billy Mitchell Award. The award is one of the highest honors to be achieved in the organization.

The award-winners are Ian Davis, 16, of Rochester; Wesley Davis, 18, of Rochester; and Travis Parker, 15, of Elgin. All three boys are home-schooled.

Along with the award, the all three boys were promoted to the rank of second lieutenant.

Civil Air Patrol is an auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force with a national membership of more than 56,000, including 22,000 cadets ages 12 to 21. Members receive aerospace education and leadership training. They participate in emergency response, including search-and-rescue operations.

The local organization is formally known as the Civil Air Patrol Southeast Minnesota Composite Squadron No. 047.
