Clarice Mathison -- Preston

PRESTON -- The funeral for Clarice Mathison will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cherry Grove United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mark Rader officiating. Burial will be in Cherry Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Mathison, 75, of Preston, a farm homemaker, died Tuesday (July 23, 2002) at her home.

Clarice Delone Groteboer was born Aug. 14, 1926, and attended country schools through the eighth grade. On April 30, 1949, she married Lyle W. Mathison at her parents' home. They farmed in the Cherry Grove and Greenleafton areas. Her husband died in July 2001. Mrs. Mathison was a member of Cherry Grove United Methodist Church, and was a member and served as president of its ladies aid. She enjoyed reading, gardening and pets.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen (Roger) Beach of Forest Lake, Minn.; two sons, Larry (Irene) of Preston and Dennis (Wendy) of Cokato, Minn.; and eight grandchildren. A brother preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in Spring Valley and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.
