AUSTIN -- The funeral for Clifford A. DeFor will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Austin, with the Rev. Patricia M. Toschak officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, with military rites by VFW Post 1216 and American Legion Post 91.
Mr. DeFor, 78, of Austin, a former insurance agent and business owner, died Sunday (July 27, 2003) at his home.
He was born Aug. 8, 1924, in Austin and served in the Army from 1943 to 1946. On Dec. 17, 1944, he married Josephine Butcher in Worthington, Minn. Mr. DeFor was an agent for Prudential insurance for many years, and later he and his wife owned the Curiosity Shop, an antiques store. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Odd Fellows Lodge, Olaf B. Damm Post 1216 of the VFW and American Legion Post 91 of Austin.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Judy (Red) Levorson of Northwood, Iowa, and Paula (Robert) Martinsen of Lyle; two sons, Donald of Austin and Clifford (Meg) of Prior Lake, Minn.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a grandson and three brothers.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
