ASSISI COMMUNITY CENTER

Musical entertainers for sisters in healthcare from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. or from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Classical, country, or old time music is preferred. No rap or hard rock.

Franciscan Renaissance Fest workers are needed for a 15th Century festival at Assisi Heights on July 5. Activities include music, theater skits, mimes, craft and fine art booths, and old century games. Volunteer also needed for traffic control, stage hands, cashier, food delivery and food sales.

Gardener to weed, water, and do general upkeep of the Allendale house garden for one hour a week during the summer months. Allendale house is in northwest Rochester.

Girlfriend companion to do fun things like shopping, going out to lunch or coffee, watching a movie, sending cards and letters or just simply sitting down for a chat. Times and days are flexible.

Visitor/friend for adults learning to live with a traumatic brain injury at Kelly D house. Visit once every week or every other week and read, play games, or other activities.

BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF ROCHESTER

Grounds care to help the club shine in the neighborhood. Once a week, pick up litter on grounds, rake and bag old leaves, utilize weed killer on unwanted crabgrass and dandelions, water outdoor gardens. Good opportunity for a small group.

CHANNEL ONE FOOD BANK AND FOOD SHELF:

Community garden workers for hands on work in gardening project. Assist family gardeners with planting, weeding, watering, and other garden work.

Food packaging assistants needed to pack boxes of food. Must be able to read, lift 20 pounds, bend repeatedly, open cardboard cases with fingers or utility knife, follow warehouse safety rules, and wear closed-toed shoes. Shifts of about two hours during the following times: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

ROCHESTERFEST BIKE RACE VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are needed to help out with the Rochester Fest Bike Race on June 22, which benefits Channel One and the Rochester Active Sports Club. Help ensure cyclist and spectator safety throughout the day, as well as staffing water stations and other duties as needed.

CHILD CARE RESOURCE &; REFERRAL INC.

Child care volunteers for Family Support Network meetings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Tuesday. Also, for grandparents, Parenting Again groups meeting from 5:30 p.m. to p.m. every third Tuesday of the month.

GOOD NEWS CHILDREN'S CENTER INC.

Child care assistants needed to supplement the regular staff of the child care center. Hours are flexible between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Classroom helpers to assist preschoolers with activities under the direction of regular child care staff. Read, play games, help with crafts.

NEW LIFE FAMILY SERVICES:

Bulk mailing help. Newsletter goes out in early July, banquet letters in late July, invitations to the banquet in August and reminder post cards in August. Agency mails to more than 1,000 people each time. People are needed who are willing to help stuff envelopes, seal letters, stamp envelopes if needed and organize the mailing. Volunteers age 13 and older and groups.

Gift basket preparation for a silent auction prior a fundraising banquet. This year gift baskets which will include a number of items to be auctioned. Need people who are willing to design and package the gift baskets.

Fundraiser and garage sale will be held June 21 at Calvary Evangelical Free Church on 55th St. N.W. in Rochester. People are needed to help set up on Friday evening. These people will help with pricing items, unloading cars and laying out items on tables. On Saturday, people are needed to help customers load items into cars, man the check out area, and theft awareness.

Spring/summer cleaning needed as well as odd jobs, painting, window washing, organizing, setting up a library and sorting clothes in a clothing closet. Volunteers must be age 13 and older.

OLMSTED COUNTY HISTORY CENTER AND RESOURCE LIBRARY

Volunteers needed to help create a Minnesota History Trunk to be used in the schools in the school year. Research, create portable displays, and gather projects and artifacts to make an exciting educational tool.

Gardening help to weed, water and maintain the Heritage Garden planted by master gardeners. One or two times a week through September.

POSSABILITIES

Assistant to individuals with special needs to assist individuals with developmental disabilities at the Supported Employment program. Have fun while helping people do various jobs. Prefer two hour commitment, one day a week, Monday through Friday.

Support person to interact with persons with developmental disabilities. Visit one to one, play cards, work on puzzles and assist with occasional community outings. Volunteers work under the supervision of staff.

Walk companion to accompany developmentally disabled individuals on walks for one hour a week (inside during bad weather). Need to be able to push a wheelchair. Clients have limited verbal communications skills.

SUNRISE COTTAGES

Gardening assistant to help residents with outdoor and gardening activities. All ages welcome.

Games assistant to play board games with residents. All ages welcome.

Visiting assistant to visit with a resident who doesn't have family in this area. Flexible schedule, one hour per week.

Walking assistant would assist residents on an outdoor walk on our grounds, residents may be in wheelchairs. Volunteer will initially meet with program coordinator for orientation and tour of Sunrise Cottages. All ages welcome
